Saint Germanus of Auxerre | From Roman Governor to Holy Bishop | Feast Day July 31 Today, the Church honours Germanus of Auxerre, whose feast day is celebrated on July 31. Born around AD 378 in Gaul, Germanus enjoyed a successful career as a Roman lawyer, military commander, and governor. He was respected for his leadership and influence, and few would have imagined that God had prepared a very different mission for his life. After the death of the Bishop of Auxerre, the local people chose Germanus to become their new bishop. Although he had not sought the position, he accepted God's call with humility. His life changed dramatically. He gave away much of his wealth to the poor, embraced a life of simplicity, prayer, fasting, and penance, and dedicated himself completely to serving Christ and His Church. Saint Germanus is especially remembered for travelling twice to Britain to defend the Catholic faith against the Pelagianism. Through his preaching, teaching, and holy example, many …
When Wildfire Could Not Touch Christ | Shalom World News When a fierce wildfire swept through Gironde, France, it reduced forests to ashes, destroyed homes, and forced countless families to flee. Yet amid the blackened landscape, one image has touched hearts around the world—Jesus’ figure carved out of stone, titled "The Saved Savior,” standing untouched while the wooden cross on which he was hanging was completely consumed by the flames. Captured by photographer Patrick Bernard, the striking scene has become a powerful reminder of hope during devastation. While nature unleashed its fury, the image of Christ remained standing, silently proclaiming a truth that has comforted believers for centuries: even in humanity's darkest moments, God's presence endures. For many, this image of Jesus is more than a surviving monument. It is an invitation to trust that faith, hope, and the love of Christ can never be consumed by fire.

Our Anglican "brethren" at Wells Cathedral (which was Catholic until the time of Henry VIII) have decided to stage an exhibition of "Mythical Creatures," based on a 17th-century book held in their library. Particularly striking is a fifteen-meter-long dragon—sporting rainbow colors—that soars above the few elderly congregants, baring its menacing claws at them. It serves as a true parable of what awaits us Catholics if we remain passive in the face of the brazen advance of the hierarchical "Pink Lobby." (It is astonishing to see the degree of confusion among some of the faithful—such as the person who wrote on a tag: "Dear dragon: always be kind and generous to entire human kind." As if we didn't know what the dragon symbolizes!) Visit our Blog: pagina-catolica.blogspot.com
This morning the Pope received Patti Smith in the Vatican, originally from Chicago, like him. Last May she had inaugurated the Holy See Pavilion at the Biennale, while in 2014 she had sung for Pope Francis in the Vatican

The argument that a volunteer military is expendable is deeply troubling. Millions of trained and willing individuals could confront an unprepared US force Iran has 2 million soldiers. Another 2 million will readily and willing to pick up an AK or something and go fight. You now have 4 million people. The very most we can muster between the Marines and Army merged would be 300,00 is his guess. And probably won't even be able to do that. Military Expendable? Ex-Military Reacts to Outrageous Claims #shorts Why is trump throwing away our money on his useless projects? Only for them to turn out a lot worse than before? Why spend money putting his name on everything, only for them to be removed, Losing more money. Spending $5,000,000 on restoring Horse statues with gold? 98-YEAR-OLD FINALLY CATHOLIC July 29, 2026 TUCSON — At 98, World War II veteran and retired Illinois cop Raymond “Ray” Martin Sr. has done what many never do: received Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation in one moving rite at the Villas of Marana, surrounded by family, caregivers, and fellow residents. After years of attending Mass and praying the rosary, Martin — visibly tearful, deeply grateful, and finally at peace — embraced the Catholic faith in a powerful reminder that it is never too late for grace.
