Today, Bishop Emeritus Christopher Saunders, 76, of Broome was convicted of 13 homosexual offences against two young Indigenous men in Western Australia. A jury in the District Court of Western Australia found Saunders guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual penetration without consent. The jury acquitted him on six other charges. The offences for which Saunders was convicted occurred between 2008 and 2019, while he was serving as Bishop of Broome. Saunders was also convicted of offences against a second man, including sexual penetration without consent. The jury deliberated for approximately seven hours before returning the verdicts. Earlier in the trial, the judge instructed the jury that it was not necessary to return verdicts on seven charges and to disregard them because there was insufficient evidence to convict. Saunders pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied the allegations. He did not give evidence during the trial. He is due to face a sentencing …Zvimwe

Mónica Astorga spent almost 40 years as a Discalced Carmelite nun in Argentina and became prioress of her convent in Neuquén. She became internationally known for her work with transvestites because of Pope Francis' encouragement. Astorga meanwhile left the convent and trained in hairdressing. The Vatican formally accepted her departure from the Discalced Carmelites in 2024. She “still” considers herself a believer – yet without attending a Eucharist regularly. Long Connection with Bergoglio Her connection with Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the future Pope Francis, began much earlier. Astorga says she met him when he was a Jesuit in Buenos Aires in 1987, nearly two decades before she began working with transvestites. She later described Bergoglio's support for her as “unconditional.” Beginning Her Work with Transvestites Astorga began assisting transvestites in 2006, after one such guy sought help in a parish. Her clientele included prostitutes, people living with HIV, and impoverished or …Zvimwe

Laurent Michelon Officiel @LAURENTMICHEL0N The recent closure of the Israeli consulate in Chengdu is described in the mainstream media as simply a consequence of China’s positions on the Palestinian issue—particularly the ongoing genocide in Gaza—as well as on the Israeli-American aggression against Iran. The Israeli consul issued an enthusiastic statement about friendship with China, as if the closure were merely temporary for renovations. What the article is careful not to mention is the recent espionage case involving an Israeli company in Chengdu, which was thwarted at the last minute by Chinese authorities just as it was about to succeed. Reported in Chinese media and on social media, this case was, of course, completely ignored by Western media. In broad terms, in 2023, the Israeli embassy in China acted as an intermediary between a Tel Aviv-based data company and a technology firm in Chengdu, under the pretext of jointly building a “data processing center” intended to optimize …Zvimwe

French Film Turns Catholic Faith Into "Joke": The French film Tombé du ciel, due in cinemas on August 12, follows Ilyes, a young Muslim from Roubaix who ends up at a Catholic boarding school in Burgundy, where his unfamiliarity with Catholic beliefs and practices becomes a recurring source of blasphemies about the faith. In one sequence, Ilyes, unable to have breakfast, casually eats unconsecrated hosts from a packet intended for Sunday Mass. “He is eating the whole Body of Christ!” another character exclaims, referring to the Catholic belief in the Eucharist. Ilyes responds by joking that people should not say he has “eaten people.” He is then ordered to go immediately to confession, which becomes another “joke” when he mistakes the confessional for a cupboard.
New Apostolate for the Roman rite in Canada: The Institute of the Good Shepherd (IBP) has established a new apostolate for the traditional Roman Rite in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, with the permission of Archbishop Guy Desrochers. The first Mass was celebrated on July 19. The IBP was founded in 2006 by five former priests of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX/FSSPX). This appears to be its first foundation in Canada.

Welcome Jesus before that it be too late Yes, God wants all men to be saved, but saved during the life he gives them here on earth, because there is no other. After this life comes eternity, eternal life. I repeat this because even priests find it hard to accept: there is no third life between time and eternity in which we can still secure our salvation. As God teaches through the mouth of Saint Paul: At the acceptable time I heard you; on the day of salvation I helped you. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Now, not tomorrow. That is why the Apostle says: Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Why work out your salvation with fear and trembling, if you can still do it in death, once you are free from the cares and temptations of this world?

Not Disturbing the Political Powers Behind France’s Euthanasia Law? Bishop Emeritus Dominique Rey told TribuneChrétienne.com of his one regret about Leo XIV’s September 25–28 visit to France: the Pope’s “very busy program” leaves no time to visit people at the end of life or palliative care units. Yet Leo XIV’s schedule includes several other meetings, including one with survivors of clergy sexual abuse. Meanwhile, France is close to legalizing euthanasia.
Monseigneur Dominique Rey : "Nous aurions souhaité une rencontre avec des personnes en fin de vie"
Today, Leo XIV sent a prerecorded video message to the 70th-anniversary assembly of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in Orlando. LCWR is the largest association of leaders of Catholic women religious in the United States. Its members are generally the superiors of congregations of sisters. The video was shown to an overwhelmingly elderly gathering, with scarcely a religious habit or young face in sight. Religious to Become “Experts in Synodality” Leo XIV said that all Christians are called to be “formed in a synodal Church”. He continued: “In a special way, those in religious life are called to become experts in synodality due to the opportunities afforded by community life to practice it.” Then, he praised the assembly's planned “synodal method of listening, discussion and discernment,” expressing the hope that through such “fraternal and receptive dialogue” the sisters would be able to “discern what the Holy Spirit is saying” about “the present and future of consecrated …Zvimwe
"Blasio also spoke of Heaven, the last place into which he had been taken ; but he spoke almost like St. Paul, who, having been ravished to the third Heaven, whether with his body or without his body he knew not, there heard mysterious words which no mortal tongue could repeat. What most attracted the attention of the child was the immense multitude of angels that surrounded the throne of God, and the incomparable beauty of the blessed Virgin Mary, elevated above all the choirs of angels."
Chapter XXI ~ Diversity of the Pains — Blasio Raised from the Dead by St. Bernardine — Venerable Prances of Pampeluna and the Pen of Pire — St. Corpreus and King Malachy. The celebrated Blasio Massei, who was raised from the dead by St. Bernardine of Sienna, saw that there was great diversity in the pains of Purgatory. The account of this miracle is given at length in the Acta Sanctorum (Appendix, May 20). A short time after the canonisation of St. Bernardine of Sienna, there died at Cascia, in the kingdom of Naples, a child aged eleven years, named Blasio Massei. His parents had inspired him with the same devotion which they them- selves had towards this new saint, and the latter was not slow to recompense it. The day after his death, when the body was being carried to the grave, Blasio awoke as from a profound slumber, and said that St. Bemardine had restored him to life, in order to relate the wonders which the saint had shown him in the other world. We can easily understand the …Zvimwe
Worse than Germany: Cardinal Tarcisio Kikuchi of Tokyo has welcomed the Japanese government's plan to promote "understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity", which was approved on 16 June. The plan involves education and "awareness initiatives" in government, schools, and workplaces, as well as measures to combat "discrimination" against homosexuals. In an interview with UcaNews.com on June 17, Cardinal Kikuchi described the government’s decision as “meaningful”, stating that it had clearly articulated a policy intended to foster a "deeper understanding of sexual minorities". And: "An inclusive community that welcomes everyone is not just an attitude; it is the first step towards building the world that God calls us to create." The cardinal's latest remarks are consistent with his longstanding homosex activism. Tokyo Archdiocese has organised monthly homosexual Eucharists. In 2023, he contributed to the book LGBT and Christianity, promoted by the 'Catholic HIV/AIDS Desk'. …Zvimwe
