Since 2019, the German-speaking 'Conference on the Liturgy' has been working on a new book of blessings Benedictionale. The Vatican signalled its openness to the project in 2023, with completion planned for 2029. In an interview with katholisch.de on 9 April, the project's chairman, Benedictine Father Johannes Feierabend, said that the blessing formulas are "no longer formulated with priests and deacons in mind". Instead, they speak more generally of 'leadership'. It is still unclear whether laypeople would conclude blessings of the congregation with “May the Lord bless you” or “May the Lord bless us”. The new Benedictionale also includes blessings for homosexual and 'loving' couples: “We believe there should be a formula for this as well,” said Fr. Feierabend. Une "messe de table" a été célébrée le jeudi saint 2 avril à l'église Notre-Dame du Finistère, en Belgique. Elle s'est déroulée autour d'une grande table de banquet, comprenant des éléments du repas. Certaines personnes âgées y ont participé. Le curé a prétexté que le carême se finit le jeudi saint et non pas après la vigile de Pâques et que nous pouvons donc déjà célébrer. La paroisse fait partie de l'archidiocèse de Malines-Bruxelles, dirigé par l'évêque Luc Terlinden, anciennement dirigé par le cardinal Joseph De Kesel.
